· This film revolves around a single setting, a mansion, where all the characters are in; this allows all the characters to interact and bounce off each other to create a more intriguing plot.
· Acting also plays a large role because it acts as a vehicle for the dialogue, which is necessary for building a mystery and solving the mystery
· Makeup/costume are used to create a certain niche, for example, money hungry older relatives who wear sharp fashion and minimal makeup. These niche characters are all different forces that interact with each other throughout the film.
· Sound
· The film uses a lot of non-diegetic sounds, like hoarse violins, to increase the tension in a scene when an unexpected fact is revealed
· Dialogue is heavily relied on this movie as it conveys the facts necessary to create a mystery, and the dialogue between characters is used to slowly reveal and unsolve.
· Editing
· Jump cuts are heavily used to keep momentum going through a scene where large events are happening, for example when a will in this movie reveals all property goes to a single character, jump cuts are used to display everyone's reactions, creating a fast past that makes the scenes fast paced and tense.
· Mystery Elements Used
· Costumes and makeup are used to effectively convey to the audience what role a character will play in the grand scheme of the mystery and what their intentions might be
· Tracking shots are used during chaotic scenes to exemplify the messiness of the situation
· Over the shoulders often portray a blurred figure behind a character, adding an element of mystery
· Elements That Did Not Appeal
· Although the movie did use makeup/costume, for the most part, effectively a lot of the characters can be seen as stereotypes, for example, a stuck up and snobby elder who only cares about money.
