production blog: marketing
Welcome back! Tomorrow the group will film the first part of the short film, but for now, marketing is the main focus. To gain traction for the film, the group has decided to create various social media accounts on platforms like instagram, youtube, facebook and twitter. I am also creating a website to give information regarding the film to anyone interested. All of the social media accounts will provide the basic information about the film, as well as behind the scene clips from the days the group was filming. On the youtube account, my idea was to compile a few of the bloopers and post them. This would be funny and focus attention on the film. As for the instagram account, it was decided that it would focus more on the personal aspects of each character. Things like Q and A's and interviews could be posted, so that the audience gets to know each actor as a person. The twitter account would be used to tweet links of posts on other social media platforms, as well as to interact with the audience or fans of the film. This could also be useful to reach out to a wider audience, because twitter has a large range of people who use it.
As far as marketing a small film goes, our group would not be able to pay for any endorsements or ads like other, larger companies could. The popularity of this film would rely 100% on word of mouth and building our following on social media. When we post anything, it is reviewed by the social media manager, aja. She makes sure that every post is professional, interesting, and appropriate. She also edits any video compilations or videos posted on Youtube, and comes up with relatable trends/challenges for the cast to participate in. Jordyn compiled a "get to know the actors” post for aja to use for the first instagram post. The post will include a picture of each actor, and facts about them, their lives, and how they got into acting, as well as any other hobbies they have.
The handle for any platform is @offical24_film. Follow for any updates and posts about our experience making this film!
